Apache - Rousseau - Ferro

INTRO K

is one of only 6 KWPN licensed approved son’s of Apache, and unlike both Jovian and Indian Rock, he is WFFS negative.

Licensed in 2016, INTRO K was trained and competed under Femke de Laat in Europe. In 2017 he won the second leg of the KWPN Stallion Competition in Kronenburg where he was praised for his

elegant light footed movements and willingness to work’.

In 2018 he finished fourth in the KWPN Stallion Competition Finals, 6th in the Pavo Cup Finals and was named second reserve for The Netherlands at the World Young Horse Championships. Femke trained INTRO K through to emerging Grand Prix as a 9 year old before his importation to Australia. He had 4 starts in Prix St Georges competitions in Europe, all of which he won with scores up to 73%.

INTRO K has recently begun his partnership with Kate Kyros. Their first competition together was at Bawley Point CDI in the YR (PSG level) division. At this event they broke the Australian record for the highest score ever achieved by an Australian Young Rider in the CDI Individual with 72.404%

The expectation that INTRO K imparts breed, appearance and movement technique to his foals has been proven, with a collection of his offspring shown to the KWPN in 2018. The KWPN described his offspring as

‘‘a uniform collection of well-bred and long-legged foals with a lot of charisma. The walk is spacious, the foals have a lot of suppleness in the trot and a lot of balance in the canter”.

In short, all features we see in INTRO K.

In August 2023 the INTRO K daughter, 3 yo filly PRIVIOLA V was declared the Mare Champion of South Holland. She then went on to be named Top 10 in the final Mare Championship of The Netherlands.

BREEDING…

APACHE was one of the best examples of modern KWPN breeding, known for his super movement, powerful hind leg and extreme suppleness through his body. He produced super foals of a lovely modern stamp who can really move.

He started his career as reserve champion of his KWPN licensing, and in December 2015 he made his international grand prix debut, scoring +73% in the straight and +76% in the freestyle. Since then, he has continued his campaign at grand prix level, with scores of +75% in a World Cup qualifier. Apache's success as a sport horse was almost guaranteed by his pedigree, which contains eight Grand Prix horses in the first five generations.

Apache sired Indian Rock, champion of the 2016 KWPN licensing, out of a mare by Vivaldi. Judges consistently awarded Apache a 10 for his trot and use of his hind leg, and he consistently passes on this electric movement to his offspring. Notable progeny also includes the licensed stallions Grand Galaxy Win, Intro K, Andreas Helgstrand’s Jovian and Charlotte Dujardin’s Gio.

ROUSSEAU is one of the top stallions for producing rideable offspring, with easy, kind temperaments. In 2007, he had the highest dressage index of any KWPN stallion on a score of 181. He is a tall, large-framed stallion with plenty of bone and a strong shoulder, with a well-connected topline.

Performance - Rousseau had a stellar young horse career; Dutch National Champion as a four-year-old, reserve the following year, and a silver medal at the World Young Horse Championships as a five-year-old. He also won the 2001 KWPN Stallion performance testing, and under Dutch rider Nicolette van Lierop, he won the 2002 Pavo Cup Finals and 2002 & 2003 KWPN Stallion Competitions.

Rousseau's offspring have been exceptional. From 2006-2008, Rousseau produced three successive KWPN licensing champions (Wamberto, Zack, and Ampere), a feat never accomplised by any stallion before or since. All three performed outstanding performance tests and are now successful stallions in their own right. He has also produced the Hanoverian performance test champion, Fiorano, who has scored +71% at international grand prix, and the Celle State Stud stallion Fürst Rousseau.

All of his offspring have scored fantastic marks for temperament, rideability, paces and type, with the KWPN noting that the trot is light-footed, balanced and with much cadence. Rousseau really stamps his foals with his type and character.

FERRO Olympic Ferro, the Dutch sensation, won team silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, 1999 European Championships and 2000 Olympic Games under Copy van Baalen of the Netherlands. This pair's greatest achievement came when they placed second in the World Cup Finals in 's Hertogenbosch scoring over 80% for their freestyle.

As a three-year-old, he was champion of his performance test at Ermelo, where he achieved the outstanding results of 6.5--walk, 8.5--trot and 8.5 canter. He was later given the Keur and the rare Preferent titles by the KWPN breeding committee.

He can be relied upon to produce beautiful, typey talented offspring of the highest quality. Fantastic toplines and an elegant look characterize his get. In addition to their dressage excellence, Olympic Ferro's offspring also make good jumpers. Olympic Ferro is #1 on the BN World Stallion Rankings for dressage and is the top stallion and pride of the Netherlands, affectionately known as the "Black Pearl."

Olympic Ferro is the grand sire of the outstanding stallion Uthopia (Metall) who achieved team gold at both the 2010 European Championships and 2012 London Olympic Games. Ferro also sired Rousseau, the champion of the three-year-old stallions at s'Hertogenbosch in 2000, as well as the stallions Negro, Mettal, and Rhodium. The champion three year old mare at Ermelo in 2000 was an Olympic Ferro daughter.
